Sanjeev was inculcated into music at an early age and was brought up in a musical background. At the tender age of three he was found to have a unique ability to translate songs into swaras. He inherited the essence of Carnatic music from his versatile mother, Smt. Brinda Venkataramanan, a disciple of Tanjore Sri S. Kalyanaraman. His early tutelage of violin was under Alandur Sri Nataraja Iyer and he continued learning violin from Kalaimamani Kum. A. Kanyakumari since 1992. Having given his debut solo concert in 1994, in 1998, Sanjeev started his musical career as accompanying violinist. He gained considerable reputation as an accompanist to many eminent vocalists in carnatic music. Sanjeev, Over the years, has stood out as one of the most talented artistes of his generation and continues to evolve a unique style for himself which is rich in gamaka and bhava. He is an A-Grade artiste of AIR, a Software engineer with a B.E. (Computer Science) and an M.S. (Information Systems). He gives performances in the most prestigious halls and travels extensively on concert tours. Sanjeev has several awards to his credit. He is the Asthana vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He also received the prestegious Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani Award from Shanmukhanada Sabha Mumbai in the year 2014. Sanjeev has released a few instrumental violin Albums - "Sunaadha Manjari", "Dancing Melodies" with his Guru, "Kamala Charane" and "Madhuradhwani" and "Sunaada Manjari - II and III". In addition, he has been equally in demand as a soloist, an accompanist and recording artiste for other senior and renowned artistes too.
He is also the co-founder of Sraavyam Associates, a recording company that aims to legalize recordings of carnatic music concerts and bring the best concerts to rasikas worldwide.
